Freestyle Motocross, or FMX, exploded onto the scene in 1998 and since then has taken over action sports. FMX has taken the world by storm with the success of nationally televised events such as the X-games, Gravity Games, and the AST Dew Tour. This high-flying, daredevil display of aerial acrobatics leaves spectators gasping for breath, as they soar more then 30 feet in the air while flying from ramp to landing over 70 feet. This adrenaline pumping display provides the most extreme form of family entertainment for children and adults of all ages to enjoy.
Nine riders will participate in a no-holds barred competition- throwing out some of the most awe-inspiring tricks ever seen. The stunts performed include a variety of thrills such as the superman seat grab, rock solid, backflip and more! The riders participate in a 60 second preliminary run, intending to narrow the field down to the final four. The “ RUN” consists of riders hitting metal take off ramps, launching 30-40 feet into the air and landing on customized metal landing ramps. The four finalists then try to put it all together for an 80 second final run to take home that night’s trophy! The last man sitting in the ‘hot seat’ is the one who can get the crowd at their feet by getting the biggest air!!
A panel of judges is assigned to judge each event. A score is given from each judge ranging from 0-100 points with 100 being the best possible run. The scores are added and averaged giving the rider a score from 0-100 for the run. The riders practice during the day from 10:00am to 3:00pm. The competition starts at 7:30pm at all night shows.
Moto Trials riders also showcase their riding skills as they tackle the trials obstacle course. For fans who have never experienced trials before, it will simply amaze you! The rider manages to maneuver his bike around the highly technical Trials course without setting a foot down the entire time!
If that wasn’t enough motorcycle action for you- then you won’t want to miss the stunt riders of the XSBA as they perform their daredevil antics with their street bikes. To keep the action going, BMX riders will showcase their twisted tricks of all variations over the quarter pipe and jump box- whipping their bikes an unbelievable twelve feet in the air!
